Chocolate was originally enjoyed as a bitter frothy drink by ancient peoples such as the Mayans and the Aztecs. The Spanish brought chocolate to Europe and started to add cane sugar to improve the taste, but for many centuries chocolate stayed a beverage. The first chocolate bars were developed in the middle of the nineteenth century and it was the Swiss, with their easy access to plenty of creamy milk, who created the kind of milk chocolate bars we see today. In 1904 George Cadbury Junior started work on an English version which would be even more creamy. He came up with Dairy Milk, which was launched in 1905 and has long been the nation's favourite.   With its traditional purple wrapping, used since 1920, and its familiar smooth flavour, Dairy Milk is a simple pleasure you can depend on.

Now Cadbury has teamed up some Dairy Milk bars with a pair of specially decorated mugs to create this Chocolate Charmer gift set. It makes a fun gift for any milk chocolate lover but is particularly suited to someone just off to university or starting out on their own, as it is practical but with a touch of indulgence.
